McColl Center for Visual Art and the Mint Museum of Craft + Design invite you to participate in Threads of the Community. These two Charlotte arts organizations will link – literally – traditional craft practices with contemporary art.

Participants will create in one day – either by knitting, crocheting, weaving, or braiding – their own fiber piece to be joined with others to form a quarter mile link between McColl Center for Visual Art and the Mint Museum of Craft + Design along North Tryon Street. Once completed at the end of the day, the final artwork will temporarily become an outdoor installation at McColl Center for Visual Art.

9:30 am – Book Brunch. Up close and personal interaction with award-winning youth authors and illustrators. Scheduled writers include Tony Abbott, Libba Bray, Nikki Grimes, Eric Kimmel, Pat Mora, Coleen Paratore, James Ransome, Jeff Smith and Wendelin Van Draanen.
